Agartala: Sept 07: Serious allegations have once again surfaced against the Sunrise Foundation, a drug rehabilitation center located in Dukli, following the death of a 27-year-old man named Rahul Dev. The family claims that gross negligence by the center led to his death on Friday night, as they were unable to pay the required fees on time.

Rahul had been addicted to cough syrup for three years, and his family had sent him to the Sunrise Foundation for treatment. Due to financial constraints, the family had not paid any money to the institution for the past three months, with plans to settle the remaining ₹24,000 after four months and bring Rahul home. On Friday evening, the institution’s staff informed the family that Rahul was seriously ill and asked them to come immediately.

Upon arrival, Rahul’s wife was told that he had been taken to GB Hospital due to severe abdominal pain. At the hospital, she found Rahul on oxygen support, but he passed away shortly after. The family believes that if they had been able to pay the fees on time, Rahul might still be alive. They allege that the rehabilitation center had been pressuring them for payment and had not allowed them to see Rahul for the past four months, stating that they could only see him once the fees were paid. Rahul’s brother had planned to take a loan to bring him back from the center, but the unfortunate incident occurred before he could do so.

The family is devastated and has raised concerns about Rahul’s sudden weight gain, suspecting that he might have been given medication or tortured. This suspicion is supported by his wife’s claims.

The Sunrise Foundation has faced numerous allegations in the past, raising questions about the management and oversight of such rehabilitation centers. The lack of proper checks and the potential for mistreatment within these facilities is a significant concern for the public.
