Agartala, August 22, 2024 – The Chief Minister’s residence has also been affected by the heavy rainfall. On Thursday, the Chief Minister walked through water from his residence to reach his office, where he addressed the media. He stated that the state has never faced such a devastating flood situation before, with the worst conditions in the Amarpur sub-division.
The Chief Minister spoke with Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday morning. He informed that Shah has assured him of sending two helicopters for rescue operations to airlift people from the affected areas. Additionally, several NDRF teams and boats will be dispatched to assist in the rescue efforts.
The Chief Minister emphasized that natural disasters are beyond the government’s control, but efforts are being made to manage the situation. The overall situation is being monitored daily. He also noted that the condition of the rivers in the state is very alarming, with water levels flowing above the danger mark.
