Agartala, July 24: The current power demand in Tripura ranges between 300 MW to 320 MW, and despite some mechanical issues, there is no load shedding in the state, according to Biswajit Bose, Managing Director of Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL). Bose made this announcement during a press conference at the Tripura Rajya Vidyut Nigam Limited corporate office on Wednesday.

Bose acknowledged that there have been electricity problems in some areas, including Agartala city, over the past few days. He attributed these issues to mechanical problems, specifically the simultaneous failure of several old transformers. However, he assured that the responsible staff took immediate measures to repair the power supply.

He expressed concern over the increasing electricity demand in Agartala city and stated that initiatives are being taken to improve the substations. Bose assured that once the existing problems are resolved, people will not face any issues in receiving 24-hour electricity service. He also announced that electrical renovation work will commence from the first week of August in preparation for Durga Puja, ensuring that there will be no power problems during the festival.

Bose mentioned that people frequently call the 1912 number to report issues, and initiatives are being taken to increase the capacity of call centers. Additionally, Vidyut Nigam plans to use the Vidyut Bandhu app to reduce the pressure on call centers and provide individual phone numbers for Vidyut offices across the state. He also noted that work has been done to underground electric lines in Agartala city, a project managed by the Smart City Corporation and Vidyut Corporation.

Despite the challenges, Bose reiterated that there is no load shedding in the state and assured that efforts are being made to improve the power supply infrastructure to meet the growing demand.
