Total voters in West Tripura district are 2,18,362

Agartala: July 12: The three-tier Gram Panchayat elections in West Tripura district are scheduled to take place on August 8. The voting will be conducted in five blocks: Dukli, Old Agartala, Jiraniya, Mohanpur, and Bamutia. Voters can cast their ballots from 7 am to 4 pm. According to District Election Officer Vishal Kumar, there are a total of 2,18,362 voters in these five blocks, comprising 1,10,073 male voters and 1,08,285 female voters, with an additional four other voters. On election day, voting will occur in 10,13 constituencies across 556 centers in 91 gram panchayats within the district. Additionally, polling will take place in 65 constituencies of 65 centers for the Panchayat Samiti and 17 constituencies of 17 centers for the West Tripura Zilla Parishad. Voters will use ballot papers to cast their votes.

Nomination papers for candidates will be accepted until July 18 (Thursday) at the District Election Officer’s office for Zilla Parishad and at the office of the concerned Returning Officer (BDO) for Gram Panchayat and Panchayat Samiti. The scrutiny of nomination papers will occur on July 19 (Friday), and the last date for withdrawal of nominations is July 22 (Monday).

During a press conference, the District Commissioner emphasized that all 45 polling stations in the district will provide essential amenities such as drinking water, electricity, seating, and sheds for voters. The mobile number of the relevant Returning Officer (BDO) will be publicly available for voters to lodge complaints. Additionally, a control room will be set up in the office of the West Tripura District Magistrate. The vote counting process will commence at 8 am on August 12 (Monday).
