Agartala: June 17: In an unfortunate event this morning, the Kanchanjunga Express heading towards Sealdah from Agartala was involved in a collision. The accident occurred as the train was approaching Rangapani station, having just departed from New Jalpaiguri station. A goods train collided with the express train from behind, causing extensive damage to the luggage van and four passenger compartments.

There are reports of multiple fatalities and injuries as a result of the accident. The injured have been rushed to North Bengal Medical College for medical attention. The severity of the collision has led to a significant number of casualties, though exact figures are yet to be confirmed.

The incident took place at around 9 am and happened approximately 985 km away from Agartala. Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the accident and to assess the full extent of its impact.
