Body recovered from fisheries department pond in Dharmanagar

Agartala: May 23: The body of a 45-year-old man named Pappu Das was recovered from the fisheries department pond on Dharmanagar Central Road on Thursday afternoon.

Locals spotted the body floating in the pond and informed the fire brigade. The fire brigade personnel rushed to the spot but initially did not attempt to take the body to the hospital. Subsequently, Dharmanagar police rushed to the scene and recovered the body. The body was sent to the morgue of Dharmanagar Hospital for post-mortem examination. The body will be handed over to the family after the post-mortem examination.

According to the family of the deceased and police officials, he had returned home and gone to sleep on Wednesday night. He was not seen since morning. His body was recovered around noon. The deceased was an electricity worker from Shivabari in Dharmanagar. The incident has caused a stir in the area.
