Dharmanagar: An eight feet long King Cobra was rescued from a residential area in Shanicherra area of North Tripura district. The local forest officers said that they had been told by the locals that the rare snake was first sighted at a house in the locality. Soon the Forest range of office in Panisagar was alerted and a team of forest guards well equipped in catching wile animals reached the spot. Snake rescuer Kajal Nath from Kadamtala also accompanied with the team that eventually succeeded in catching the snake without harming it. It was later released in the Rowa wildlife sanctuary where it can move safely. Locals said that increasing urbanization induced devastation to the forest land has forced the wild animals to invade in the human settlements which is either way dangerous.
