Agartala: Nov 26: On the 75th Constitution Day, a discussion meeting organized by the Pradesh Congress in Agartala highlighted serious concerns about the ongoing threats to the fundamental rights of citizens. MLA Sudip Roy Barman, speaking at the event, expressed his deep worry about the continuous encroachments on the Constitution and fundamental rights in the country. He emphasized that the responsibility to protect the Constitution lies with every citizen, underscoring that all sections of society must remain vigilant to defend the democratic values enshrined in it.

The event, held at the Student Health Home, was attended by prominent figures, including Pradesh Congress President Ashish Kumar Saha, Tripura’s in-charge observer Christopher Tilak, MLAs Birjit Sinha and Sudip Roy Barman, and Professor Chandita Basu Majumdar, who served as the keynote speaker. The meeting served as a platform for expressing concerns about the state of governance and the protection of democratic principles. It was also an opportunity for the Congress to launch a 60-day campaign aimed at safeguarding the Constitution across the state.

During his address, MLA Sudip Roy Barman criticized the ruling party, accusing them of fostering a one-party rule that suppresses the voices of the people. He pointed out that the current administration is systematically undermining the rights of the people, thereby threatening the democratic fabric of the country. According to Barman, the ruling party is actively working to stifle opposition and dissent, imposing its will on the populace through various means.

In response to these challenges, Barman emphasized that Congress representatives will continue to resist these injustices and fight for the restoration of people’s rights. The party’s 60-day campaign is a call to action to protect the Constitution and ensure that its principles are upheld for the welfare of the people.
