Agartala: Apr 09: In conformity with the cherished tradition of observing the sacrifice of its bravehearts in reverence, the 71 bn crpf celebrated ‘valour day’ on 09/04/23 by paying homage to the bravehearts who laid down their lives. at the altar of duty. On this occasion Shri. Ram Palat (Commandant-71 Bn CRPF) addressed the officers, subordinate officers and personnel about the valiant history of April 9th, 1965 where a small contingent of 2nd Bn CRPF, successfully fought and repulsed an attack by a Pakistani Brigade on Sardar Post in the Rann of Kutch, Gujarat, eliminating many enemy soldiers. He praised the readiness, versatility and aptitude of the force in dealing with the multiple and diverse challenges to the internal security of the nation. He expressed his unwavering faith in the abilities of the force to sustain their exceptional role in the service of the nation. On this occasion senior officers and personnel from 71 Bn CRPF visited the homes and interacted with the 05 family members of CRPF martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty. These families include Smt. Panchami Marak, wife of martyr CT / GD Tharesh Marak from South Tripura District, SMT. Bina Singh Gurung wife of martyr CT / GD Uttam Kumar Singh Gurung from South Tripura district, Smt. Rupali Marak wife of Martyr CT / GD Bilop Marak from south Tripura, Smt. Meena Kumari Jamatia wife of Martyr CT / GD B.M Jamatia from Gomati district and Smt. Radha Rani Barma wife of Martyr HC / GD Adhin Deb Barma from west Tripura district. All the families were presented with special gift and bouquet of flowers as a mark of respect and honor. In the evening, as a part of celebration, inter coy volley ball match was conducted at unit Hq. Khumulwng. The unit also organized a memorable colorful cultural extravaganza in which family members of the force and special guests from outside were invited. Smt. Maharani Hrangkhawl Assistant Professor along with Khumulwng Degree college students participated in the program and presented with beautiful traditional dance and folklores. Cultural extravaganza was followed by a “Badakhana” in which personnel from all ranks and files including family members and guests participated with full enthusiasm marking the day with honor and devotion.
