6,528 metric tons of pineapples have been exported outside the state and abroad in the last 3 financial years: Agriculture Minister

Agartala, January 9 : The delicious Queen Pineapple produced in Tripura is exported to the states of Delhi, Assam, Karnataka, West Bengal, Odisha and Rajasthan and abroad to Dubai, England, Germany, Bangladesh etc. Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Ratanlal Nath gave this information in a written reply to the questions of Leader of the Opposition Animesh Debbarma, MLA Jitendra Chowdhury, MLA Nirmal Biswas during the question and answer session of the Legislative Assembly today.

The Agriculture Minister, giving information on pineapple cultivation and production in the state in the last three financial years, said that in the financial year 2020-21, the total pineapple production in the state was 1 lakh 44 thousand 605 metric tons, in the financial year 2021-22 1 lakh 67 thousand 743 metric tons and in the financial year 2022-23 1 lakh 70 thousand 988 metric tons. Tons (approx.) of pineapples have been produced. 5,063 pineapple farmers in 2020-21 financial year, 5,617 pineapple farmers in 2021-22 financial year and 6,666 pineapple farmers in 2022-23 financial year are engaged in pineapple cultivation.

The Agriculture Minister also said that a total of 6,528 metric tons of pineapples were exported to foreign countries and abroad in the last 3 fiscal years through various agencies. He said that pineapples worth Rs 9 crore 79 lakh 70 thousand have been exported to other states of the country and abroad.
