5th Biennial Conference of Tripura Grameen Bank Retired Staff Association Held

On Sunday, September 8, 2024, the 5th biennial conference of the Tripura Grameen Bank Retired Staff Association took place at 10:00 AM in the auditorium of Tripura Student Health Home. The event began with the hoisting of the association’s flag by its president, Subrata Majumdar. This was followed by the reading of condolence messages by the association’s treasurer, Bikash Devnath, and a minute of silence to honor the martyrs.

The conference featured notable attendees such as the chairman of JAAF, Shri Bijon Dhar, association president Subrata Majumdar, association secretary Radha Mohan Sinha, and all-India leader and pioneer of the bank employee movement, Shri Samir Dev Burman. The public meeting was conducted by the association’s treasurer, Bikash Ranjan Devnath.

Shri Panna Lal Dutta, the first general secretary of the undivided Tripura Grameen Bank Employees’ Union and a renowned singer, inaugurated the conference with a song. The chief guest was Ganapati Hegde, the general secretary of NFRRBS from Karnataka, and the keynote speaker was Abdul Sayeed Khan, the general secretary of NFRRBO from Kolkata. Special guest Shri Bidhan Chakraborty, the treasurer of NFRRBO, also attended.

The conference coincided with the birthday of Dada Mukherjee, the founder of the All India Regional Rural Bank Employees Association, which was remembered and celebrated by attendees.

The welcome speech was delivered by conference chairperson Shri Samir Bhattacharya. A total of 207 delegates participated in discussions on the editorial report. Key topics included the rights and demands of retired employees, such as:

Granting computer increment to all rural bank officers and employees from November 1, 1993. Implementing pensions from November 1, 1993, similar to commercial banks. Consolidating all 43 rural banks in India on a state-wise basis. Forming a National Rural Bank of India with state-wise rural banks.

The conference concluded with outgoing president Shri Subrata Majumdar thanking everyone and extending his greetings. A 21-member committee was unanimously formed for the next two years, with Shri Subrata Majumdar as President, Shri Bikash Ranjan Devnath as General Secretary, Shri Premmoy Majumdar as Treasurer, and Shri Swapon Das as Auditor.
