Agartala: April 27: On Sunday, an important milestone was reached in Tripura as the state government distributed 479 appointment letters across various posts at a ceremony held at the Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhavan in Agartala. The event was marked by the presence of Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, who emphasized the government’s dedication to ensuring transparency and meritocracy in the recruitment process.
In his address, Dr. Saha outlined the government’s ongoing efforts to create a fair recruitment system that aligns with the visions laid out by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He affirmed that the state’s priorities are firmly rooted in merit-based selection, which is a significant departure from past practices often criticized for lacking transparency. This commitment is not merely rhetoric; the Chief Minister presented compelling data to showcase the efforts made since the government came into power in 2018.
Dr. Saha proudly announced that the present government has successfully provided a staggering total of 16,942 jobs from 2018-19. This achievement highlights the administration’s proactive approach to tackling employment issues within the state. Specifically, he noted that in 2025 alone, 3,296 government jobs were allocated, including 2,437 Group-D positions filled through the Joint Recruitment Board of Tripura (JRBT). These figures underscore the government’s concerted efforts to reduce unemployment rates and offer opportunities to the youth of Tripura.
In a detailed breakdown of the new appointments, the Chief Minister specified that letters were issued for various essential roles: 126 posts of Child Development Project Officers (CDPO) and Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Supervisors under the Department of Social Welfare and Social Education, 197 posts of Junior Engineers within the Public Works Department, and 156 positions at the Tripura State Co-operative Bank Limited, including roles such as Assistant Manager, Cash-cum-General Clerk, and Multi-Tasking Staff.
While reflecting on the accomplishments, Dr. Saha addressed the criticism from opposition parties regarding unemployment in the state. He asserted that despite the dissenting perspectives, there has been a notable reduction in the unemployment rate over recent years, a fact that seems to be overlooked by his political adversaries. Instead of acknowledging these positive changes, he argued, opposition parties propagate confusion among the public.
The event welcomed a range of dignitaries, including the Social Welfare and Social Education Minister Tinku Roy, Minister for Cooperation Shukla Charan Noatia, and Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha, adding weight and significance to the appointment distribution ceremony. Each of the new appointees was congratulated by Dr. Saha, who encouraged them to serve with dedication and a spirit of public welfare, reinforcing the notion that their roles extend beyond mere employment; they are integral to community development and service.
Overall, the distribution of these appointment letters signifies not just the creation of new jobs, but also a push for a more transparent and fair recruitment process in Tripura, responding to the needs of its citizens and fulfilling the aspirations placed upon the current government.
