Agartala, June 13 : The police of Lefunga police station has succeeded in the anti-drug operation. 41 kg of dry cannabis was recovered by searching a house based on information from secret sources. Along with five foreign nationals, a youth has been arrested. Sub-Divisional Police Officer Vijay Sen said that the market value will be approximately five lakh rupees.
SDPO Bijay Sen said that around 5 am today, the police received information from intelligence sources that a large amount of drug paraphernalia was stored in the house of Surendra Debbarma, a resident of Langcha area in Daimara village under Lefunga police station. Also, five foreign nationals are hiding in that house. Accordingly, in the morning, a joint raid was conducted at the house under the leadership of Lefunga Police, TSR and CRPF. Police seized 41 kg of dry ganja from the bags of five non-state nationals after house searches. He said that five citizens of Bihar including a youth resident of Dhaleswar in Agartala were arrested and brought to the police station.
He also said that out of five citizens of Bihar, there are four women and one man. The market value of the seized dried ganja is estimated to be Rs.5 lakhs. The police have registered a case under NDPS against them and started investigation.
