Manik visits flood hit areas (8/12/2017) 
Chief minister Manik Sarkar at last found time to visit the flood hit people of the state capital on Saturday. More than 10,000 families were rendered homeless and the administration has opened as many as 56 relief camps in the state. However, there is no report of any causality so far in the state. The civil administration has continued the rescue operation in eastern and northern part of Agartala today. The central zone of Agartala is still under logged in water. The business establishments and markets remained closed and state government declared holiday for schools.Being second Saturday, banks and public offices were holiday. Because of inundation in Agartala city and national highway, vehicular movement was minimal and people were remained confined in the houses.According to meteorological report, there was about 51 mm rainfall recorded in West Tripura since last evening after receiving 182mm rain yesterday. The drainage system was collapsed that inundated almost entire city and civil administration rescued about 6400 city dwellers from their house till last night. As many as 25 boats were pressed into service by disaster management authority.Besides, police, civil defence volunteers, trained personnel of Tripura state rifles and BSF were mobilised in rescue operation.
