CPI (M) MLA seeks administrative actions on deplorable conditions of central jail (2/13/2020) 
The deputy leader of Tripura assembly and longest-serving minister of the state during left regime Badal Choudhury who had been in the jail for 87 days in connection with Rs 167 Cr scam in PWD wrote to Chief Secretary seeking administrative actions on deplorable conditions of central jail. In a letter to Chief Secretary Monoj Kumar, Choudhury asked for immediate administrative intervention relating to the matter of wages of jail inmates, the appointment of separate lady Jailor for female inmates, set up a diagnostic facility in jail hospital and a host of other issues. He mentioned about a deserted section of Block No 1 and the recent death of an undertrial person. It is to be mentioned that the Tripura High Court had recently granted bail to former minister Badal Choudhury, who was arrested in connection with the multi-crore PWD scam.
