TIPRA Stages protests against CAA with motorcycle rally (2/8/2020)
Tripura royal scion Pradyot Kishore’s newly formed organization— The Indigenous Progressive Regional Alliance (TIPRA) today kick started a series of anti-Citizenship Amendment Act-CAA protests with a motorcycle rally. The volunteers of the motorcycle rally would travel to all sixty assembly constituencies of the state and sensitise people, especially tribals, about the Act. The campaign started with a motorcycle rally of over 400 volunteers at Khumulwng, headquarters of the Tripura ADC, 25 Km away from Agartala. Pradyot, who resigned from the post of state Congress president last year over his stand favouring NRC revision in Tripura, announced formation of TIPRA earlier this year with support from nearly all tribal political parties including IPFT-Tipraha, Tripura Peoples Front (TPF), Indigenous Nationalist Party of Twipra (INPT) and Tripura United Indigenous Peoples’ Council (TUIPC). In his message on today’s rally, the Royal Scion said “Over 400 motorbikes going village to village across the state and staying over night and spreading the message of the downside of CAA in our state of Tripura. Message will be through street corner meetings and leaflets. It will be a totally youth driven program”.
