Block arranged special Gram Sabha to honour Bapu (10/2/2019) 
Working on the aim of empowered villages which remained to the dream of the Father of the nation the bordering block of Durgachowmuhani arranged for special Gram Sabha at Bamanchara village in Kamalpur here. The programme was held to aware the villagers about cleanliness and about different welfare schemes to include each and everyone in the process of development. The programme was attended by the Block Development Officer (BDO) Rameswar Chakraborty, Panchayat Extension Officer (PEO) Arajit Debbarma, Chairperson of Durgachowmuhani Panchayat Samiti Shampa Das, Vice President of Dhalai Zilla Parishad Anadi Sarkar, all the elected members of the Bamanchara panchayat and social activists. The villagers also thronged into the programme. While discussing on the significance of the programme, the BDO Rameswar Chakraborty remarked, "The day is very auspicious to us all as we are celebrating the 150th birth anniversary of our father of nation Mahatma Gandhi. He always dreamt of empowered villages to make the nation empowered both economically and potentially. Our Central government as well as the state government are also focused on the issue for true development. But the aim cannot be achieved with few government officials and elected representatives. Each and every person should be aware about the activities and schemes of the government to avail the opportunity. Moreover, Gandhiji also urged for cleanliness in our mind, body and surroundings. Our Prime Minister and Chief Minister also put utmost importance on it. We should also stand out in this matter. Today is the day to take urge to make our panchayat clean and plastic free". Other dignitaries also put emphasis on the matters during discussion. During the programme, senior citizens, mothers of girl children and divyangans were conferred felicitations.
