Vehicle movement ban between 6pm to 1am during Durga Puja: (9/8/2019)
Keeping an eye on the safe and conduct of the Durga Puja, the Tripura Police on Saturday has imposed some restriction on the movement of the vehicles during the Puja days between October 05 to 09 in Agartala. Addressing a meet at Town Hall today, the state SP Ajit Pratap Singh informed that traffic control measures have been beefed up for the upcoming ‘biggest’ festival of Durga Puja. This year, tight measures will be adopted in view of the increasing number of vehicles. It was informed that the traffic system will start functioning from the Saptami day, though, the gathering starts from Panchami night but restriction will be imposed from October 05. As per as security is concern, CCTV cameras and watch towers will be set up at all sensitive and crowded areas. Recently traffic department held a meeting with the Puja organizers/clubs to maintain discipline in the State. Over-crowdedness should be avoided and vehicles should not be allowed in the no-entry zones without any permission/passes. As per the restriction, vehicular movement will remain closed in some main roads of the city between 6 pm to 1 am from October 05 to 09 next. However, the order would not be applicable for the movement of vehicles being used in various emergency services- Police, Fire Service, Ambulance, Law and Order and Magistrates on duty.
