IPFT gives Tipraland call with eye on ADC poll (8/11/2019) 
With an eye on the impending ADC poll IPFT is all set to give Tipraland call one again. Party plans to hold a mega rally in this regard On 23rd of this month in Khumulung. Today the central executive committee meeting of the party took place at Bhagat Singh Youth Hostel and it was decided that come what may the party will give a fresh impetus to Tipraland call in the days to come. If this means snapping ties with BJP and two party leaders resigning from state cabinet this should also be done. At present N C Debbarma and Mebar Jamatia are the two members of state cabinet from IPFT. In the assembly session starting August 30 next IPFT legislators will be seen for the first time sitting separately from BJP legislators. BJP has in the meantime started its preparations on its own for the ADC poll. At a meeting at BJP party office BJP president cum chief minister Biplab Deb while congratulating the leaders at the grassroot level for the huge win in panchayat poll started them to start preparations for ADC poll. In another development, Indigenous People’s Front of Tripura (IPFT), a BJP ally, on Saturday met representatives of organisations demanding Gorkhaland in Darjeeling. The visit comes days after the Centre’s decision on Jammu and Kashmir. Led by Balaram Debburman, the chairman of the youth wing of the IPFT, the 15-member delegation held talks with representatives of Bharatiya Gorkha Parisangh.The IPFT’s principal agenda is creation of Tipraland, a separate state, out of Tripura.The IPFT delegation met Nirmal Pun, secretary-general of the Gorkha Parisangh, and general secretary Akash Lama and discussed various aspects of the Gorkhaland movement.“Gorkhaland is a longstanding demand like ours. We feel the Centre should consider our demands, particularly after its decision on Jammu and Kashmir,” Debburman said.The IPFT is part of the National Federation for New States, which brings together leaders advocating Gorkhaland, Bodoland, Vidarbha and other new states.
