Seven Tripura girls sold to Saudi (4/14/2019) 
At least 14 girls from North east India was sold to Saudi Arabia by the Human traffickers. This came into the light following the confession of notorious human right traffickers who was arrested by Lucknow police. Of the 14 girls who had already been trafficked and sold in Saudi Arabia, seven are from Tripura. The girls were mostly promised jobs of nursing attendants.According to the NGOs working in Human trafficking field, the kingpin of the human trafficking racket has been identified as Rumana Begum, who had allegedly trafficked many girls from across the country, including North East.The sensational revelation came a day after Uttar Pradesh Police busted a trans-national human trafficking racket where a girl hailing from Tripura was rescued on her way to be trafficked to Dubai on Wednesday.The incident came to light when a notorious human trafficker, who was nabbed by authorities in Lucknow, confessed to having trafficked and sold all 14 girls in Saudi Arabia. The trafficker has been identified as Rumana Begum, who has allegedly trafficked many girls across the country. The details about this operation came to light after Lucknow police busted the human trafficking racket and rescued a Tripura girl who was about to be trafficked to Dubai. The girls were allegedly sold in Dubai after being initially offered lucrative jobs. It may be mentioned that out of the fourteen girls who were trafficked, seven belong to the state of Tripura.
