No annoucement from parties on candidate names (3/11/2019)
Even after 24 hours of the announcement of the dates of Lok Sabha poll not a single party in the state has been able to name its candidates. This is unprecedented as CPI(M) always names its candidates soon after election dates are announced. In fact in Kerala it has named all the 20 candidates including its other LDF allies. In West Bengal the names of two sitting MPs from Raiganj and Murshidabad has also been made and they have started campaign. But this is not happening in Tripura and there is total confusion in Melarmath. Latest reports said Rahul Gandhi has approached Sitaram Yechuri and sought support for Samir Barman from West Tripura and assured to support Jiten Choduhury from East Tripura. This has added to more confusion in Melarmath as many feel that Manik Sarkar should contest from West Tripura and Congress should support him. Nobody knows when this confusion among top comrades and cadres of the Marxist party will end Today ex CM Samir Barman called on Rahul Gandhi and he was told to prepare to enter the fray from West Tripura . What is further surprising is that even within the ruling BJP there is total confusion who will get the nomination . And furthermore no one is really sure what the stance of two tribal based political parties, IPFT and INPT will be in the Lok Sabha poll this time around.
