EC announces two phase LS poll! (3/10/2019)
Even though people of the state cast their vote in the last assembly poll just one year ago in single phase Election commission today made an unprecedented decision. It was announced that without any reason whatsoever two phase Lok sabha poll will take place in the state on April 11 and April 18 next. Reports said, EC took this unfounded and biased decision just to appease a representation placed by CPI(M) in Delhi based on some baseless allegations. There is no surety that CPI(M) candidates will not withdraw their candidature on poll day in spite of this unprecedented decision taken by the EC without any valid reason. This will lead to major expenditure and burden the state exchequer that is revival path, feel the financial experts. Melarmath sources said they are elated by this unexpected announcement by EC in Delhi for holding two phase poll. This gives opportunity to us to make a mark after we were drubbed by BJP in last year’s state elections, they told NEINDIA. The sources also pointed out that if Manik Sarkar and Gautam Das had not poured cold water to alliance issue with Congress it could well have been a golden start for the joint campaign when Rahul Gandhi came to address a rally on March 20 next. But today even PCC leaders like Pijush Biswas and Baptu Chakraborty also made it clear that come what may there will be no alliance with CPI(M) in Tripura. Just before the announcement of two phase poll Biplab Deb addressed two rallies , one in Mohanpur and the other at Ramnagar starting the party poll poll campaign for BJP blasting the business of politics of the two parties.
