Modi attacks opposition (2/9/2019)
Prime minister Narendra Modi was at his attacking best while addressing a rally at Vivekanda maidan in Agartala . Modi said, “Adulterated parties are clamoring for a helpless government so that they can fill their homes. These parties are protector of middlemen. They are scared of strong government. Can this country run without strong government?” He thanked the people of the state for ushering in Paribartan or change 11 months ago and sought cooperation to have a majboot (strong) government at the centre. His attack on the Congress - CPI(M) alliance did not end here. He added, “Helpless government will help in perpetuating dynastic rule. There is Olympic going on to hurl abuse on Modi. See opportunism these parties join hands in Delhi and Kolkata and get their photos clicked. Will they do same in Kerala, Tripura? Modi said, “ If you ask these parties what is their agenda for farmers, workers and youth, they will only hurl abusive on Modi. In the interim budget presented recently we have offered schemes for youths, unorganised workers, middle class which remained only slogans for these parties.” The prime minister said that Communist did nothing for the unorganised labourers. “We are bringing law where more power will be given to councils for tribals.” Asking people to vote for BJP, he said, “ In 11 months of BJP led government in Tripura, while I was coming from airport I can see freedom in the face of the people. For the first time in the state rice was procured from farmers on Minimum support price. The new government has implemented 7th pay commission. Those who claim to be advocates of working class never thought about this.” Earlier both Biplab Deb and Jishnu Debbarma welcomed the PM on behalf of the people of the state for this historic visit. He unveiled the statue of Bir Bikram Manikya at airport despite a boycott call by TSF and CPI(M). Today only in Mandai few TSF workers held a march with black flags. In capital some Congress workers were also seen with few black balloons. But PM was able to win hearts through his visit which skipped the Citizenship Amendment Bill issue ironically to which he referred to in Guwahati rally earlier during the day.
