Nabendu refutes charge (10/30/2018)
BJP Tripura state committee took an exception on the allegation of CPI (M) Central Committee member and Member of Parliament (MP) Jitendra Chaudhury two days ago that ruling BJP has been unleashing terror and forcefully occupied the post of chairman in Satchand panchayat samity of South Tripura by wining only one out of 11 seats.Mr Chaudhury had however, accused the administration of electing BJP nominee as Chairman.BJP Spokesperson Nabendu Bhattacharjee said the post of chairman of the particular panchayat samity was reserved for SC woman and the rule was made by the then left front government. The former chairman of CPI(M) had resigned after new government came. In the election only SC women candidates fought and BJP nominee won. So there is no question of forcefully electing chairman. She is the only SC women won the election and as per the despite CPI (M) having the majority, the post of Chairman has to be given to her. The elected six CPI (M) nominees of the panchayat samity have extended their support to BJP, Mr Bhattacharjee said. The BJP spokesperson lashed out at the MP and said that CPI (M) has been the master of distorting facts and misrepresenting the interpretation and this is a classic example of their character. "To achieve their political mileage, they never think about the future implication. The way MP Chaudhury blamed the administration for the particular case; it is clear that he intended to slur the administration for narrow politics. This is nothing but an attempt to undermine the integrity of the administration," Mr Bhattacharjee added.Supplementing the statement, BDO Satchand Pranay Debnath stated that administration has no role in electing chairman of panchayat samity except serving notice for election. The allegation was motivated and no base rather to malign the administration."The chairman seat was reserved for SC woman candidate and out of these 11 elected representatives only one woman is belong to SC. The outgoing chairman of CPI (M) was also SC woman and once she resigned the election was held. In the election BJP nominee won. Moreover, six elected members extended written support to her and she was elected," Mr Debnath said.He further pointed out that administration wanted SC woman nominee for the post nothing else.
