Day long trouble on last day of nomination filing (9/11/2018)
On the last day of filing of nomination papers for panchayat by elections there was trouble in several block areas. On top of it there was attempted mob lynching inside Tulasikhar TSR camp . Besides, IPFT also observed bandh in Killa block area. This after one tribal youth was killed when his bike was dashed by by a speeding Tripper truck. At the time of filing this report IPFT workers have blocked road at Nailafa near Ambassa on National highway and also the Gandacherra Raishyabari road too. They alleged that MLA Dhirendra Tripura was attacked in Durga choumuhani block area. In Khowai block too IPFT candidates could not file nominations according to the Ramchandraghat IPFT MLA. In Jubarajnagar block in North Tripura the presence of IPFT top leaders Ananta Debbarma did not help matters as two jeeps carrying candidates were set on fire. Closer to capital police resorted to indiscriminate lathicharge in Dukli block following the instigation by PCC president Birajit Sinha. Local BJP MLA Ramprasad Pal protested police highhandedness. Addressing a press meet Gautam Das, CPI(M) leader made it clear that only in five out of the 35 blocks were party candidates able to submit their nomination papers. Does this mean that CPI(M) will boycott the byelections ? To this question both Mr Das and Mr Bijan Dhar said , no we will not boycott the poll. They alleged that SEC did not discharge his duties in a proper manner.
