BJP candidates finalised, CPI(M) jail bharo peaceful (8/9/2018)
BJP has finalised the names of candidates for both the Lok Sabha seats. This was done at a meeting presided by Himanta Biswa Sharma today. Biplab Deb and other top leaders of state BJP were present at the meeting. This on a day when CPI(M) backed AIKS held jail bharo movement that flopped miserably and ended peacefully. Mr Sharma also hinted that talks will take place with IPFT shortly to finalise strategy for Lok Sabha poll. But CPI(M) in order to save its second position in state politics that seems to be under shadow of rising Congress might put up good show today. In the name of jail bharo more than ten thousand cadres were mobilised across the state. The highest congregation was at Kailasahar where the old town hall had to be thrown open . But in the state capital it was a flop show and infuriated supporters tried to molest lady police officials standing in front of the police barricade and damage the signage of Shyama Prasad Mukherjee marg. Congress on the other hand went a step back with Baptu Chakraborty being expelled from the party for six years.
