Turn TSECL into profit making organisation : Biplab (8/7/2018)
Chief minister Biplab Deb wants some concrete steps so that TSECL becomes a profit making organisation . Speaking at a high level review meeting of power department at state secretariat he said time has come to reduce the transmission and distribution losses. Power department officials were told in the strictest of terms that they need to visit the concerned division areas under their jurisdiction more frequently. CMD Jayanta Barkataki presented the sorry state of affairs of the state power department. The state has a dismal own production of 76 MW only. This is in stark contrast to 80 MW supplied by NEEPCO and 245 MW received from Inter state grid. It also got revealed that demand of power will increase drastically during Durga puja from the present level of 300 MW. Bangladesh gets 160 MW power from the states own account and even then the state is officially loadshedding free. In order to cater to the 44,000 long power lines in the state there are more than 2,000 line staff. In so far as the anti hookline drive is concerned 966 such drives have been carried out, 6,484 connections have been cut, 283 persons have been booked, 35,60,000 fine collected . So far 9,62,000 LED bulbs have been distributed across the state. Also peak hour demand of power has come down by 11 percent. World Bank aided NERPSIS project work is going on under which upgradation work of 132 KV and 32 KV substations are going on .
