The name Dehlvi says it all. It literally means Someone from Delhi, and that’s what defines writer Sadia Dehlvi whose love for Delhi runs in her veins. Sadia Dehlvi’s new book The Sufi Courtyard: Dargahs of Delhi highlights how Delhi became a centre of Sufism of the world in the middle ages and after. In conversation with TWF correspondent Sonali Jha Chatterjee

Excerpts of an interview:

How would you define yourself?

I call myself a writer as I have been writing for over thirty years. My writing continues to focus largely on issues regarding women, minorities, culture, faith and heritage. I think the newer aspect of my personality is the drift towards spirituality. There comes a time in life when one searches for a deeper meaning to li...

On the dais of cyber-stage every packet of data unzips to reveal information that the brain cells record to do ultimate justice on it. However, it is unfortunate to mention, that a chunk of those data are virtually controlled by several global tycoons from the sin cities on recent years. When outsourcing of businesses are on boom in the world arena, those infamous magnates are strategically exploiting few specific sites of global village to cash in on loopholes of the e-world.

Philippines is one of those targeted outsourced locations where porn industry wore a new look over past few years based on cyber evolution.
The industry devoid of nightlife razzmatazz unlike the other red light zones has already mushroomed on impoverished basins utilizing the poor Filipino economy. Most of the young girls and deprived women of their society are allured into these agencies that promise hefty payment in return of strip shows over the Internet where customers hook up to fulfill the unmet erotic fantasies. Happy New Year and 300+ wishes 02/01/2012
It was a time of New Years in ripe teenage or in the aftershock, my male friends openly lamented for not having too many cards from the prospective girl friends and the female friends whispered. Me, usually observed all those things and showing a careless approach to receive the cards written, ‘My Best Friend’, pampered myself charitably, especially when it were from never-think-of , ‘unwanted’ personalities.
It was a time; in my mid-twenties, suddenly started the flow of cards being heave on my awfully shaped cot, and the signatures, most of the times abbreviated or disguised in something very personal, on those came from teenagers to mid-thirty womenfolk made the cot decorated. In this passage of time, I got confused with my identity and felt the urge, for the first and final instance, to go back to adolescence with all the maturity of the ripe age for short-period, to be in the normal course of age in quick succession.

One Man Army 24/12/2011
Kunal Saha’s name still does not ring a bell in New Delhi media like the many lesser fighters who bask in the regular national channels’ spotlight. But the HIV/AIDS researcher from Ohio battling India’s corrupt healthcare system after his wife’s death from medical negligence in 1998 is a one-man army who this October was awarded the highest ever medical damage by the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC). Saha in conversation with Sujoy Dhar

I knew Kunal Saha through telephonic conversations and e-mails since May 1999 as a Kolkata journalist reporting his case. But I saw him first in the September of 2000 at the Greyhound bus depot of Columbus in Ohio, USA. He came driving his black Nissan to receive me. At a glance, the six-foot-tall robust built man in a navy blue suit and trademark dark glasses looked like a don. But behind the robust façade and indomitable spirit to wage a legal crusade against the medical system in India lies a vulnerable man who lost the love of his life- wife Anuradha. Inside his office chamber what first confronted my eyes was a picture of Anuradha in black and white. But that was only the beginning of confronting someone who inhabited Kunal's world perhaps more than when she was present in flesh and b...
