Kolkata, April 2: The most-awaited fashion extravaganza-Kolkata Fashion Week (KFW)-took the ramps for the first time Thursday here with creations by internationally famed designers-Bibi Russell, Shane and Falguni Peacock and Wendell Rodricks. Besides, collections by city designer Sharbari Datta and upcoming designer Soumitra Mondal was also showcased at the glitz-fest.

It’s wonderful and beyond my expectation. See, what happens at Delhi or Mumbai or other fashion weeks is that we take them for granted. Every Bollywood actor, including me , have this attitude saying, ‘If it’s not happening this year, then may be I will be able to do it next year’. But this is the first time it’s happening in Kolkata and the audience reacted so well! I hope this eagerness stays like that in future too.

Yes, this is the first time I am participating at an Indian fashion week, that too on the first day of the first season of Kolkata Fashion Week. You see, as a Bengali myself, I didn’t think of doing Mumbai or Delhi fashion week. I always knew, if I ever do a fashion week in India, it has to be Kolkata .
